Michigan is home to a lot of delicious cherries and a lot of delicious beer. In fact, they are so good, sometimes we like to combine them.

ABC News took time to highlight Michigan cherries and hops and the hard-working farmers who produce them.

Michigan has 3.8 million tart cherry trees and produces 70 to 75 percent of the tart cherries grown in the United States. Traverse City produces most of those cherries which is why ABC focused on the Traverse City area.

They discuss how Lake Michigan is responsible for making the area so good for growing cherries. They speak with farmers about the risk that comes with growing the fragile crop and how to the growth of the beer industry and hops is leading some to switch to growing hops.

ABC also visits with Perrin Brewing Company in Comstock Park to talk about their use of Michigan hops.

Both hops and cherries continue to thrive and provide us with hundreds of options of Michigan-grown deliciousness.
