Michigan State's men's soccer team is in the NCAA championship round, known as the College Cup. The Spartans will play Akron in the semi-finals tonight at 8pm EST.

College Soccer doesn't get the fanfare of the basketball and football teams, but Michigan State's soccer team has been really good all season and last week won their way into NCAA Soccer's Final Four, the College Cup.

The great thing about the Spartans team is it has been built with mostly in-state players, which means we're playing a really good brand of high school and club soccer in the state. Seven of the 11 starters for State are from Michigan.

The Spartans will play the Akron Zips, a team built with mostly foreign players, tonight at 8pm in Santa Barbara CA. The winner will advance to the College Cup Final Sunday against the winner of tonight's other semi final between perennial power Indiana and Maryland.

State made it to the finals with a 2-1 win over James Madison last Saturday. it is the school's first visit to the College Cup Finals.

The Barone brothers, Giuseppe  and Hunter, from East Kentwood High School are the lone West Michigan representatives on the roster. Giuseppe has three goals and ten assists for the season, Hunter has three goals and three assists.
