The excitement and craziness has begun.....ArtPrize!

So many entries to see...so many entries to judge.

Here's one you won't have to judge, but you will get to see, and tour. One of Michigan Blood’s buses will be on exhibit this Saturday, September 21, 2013 in Rosa Parks Circle on Monroe Mall in downtown from 12-8 pm. The good news is there won’t be any needles involved – just plenty of complimentary cookies and visitors will be encouraged to tour the bus, learn some little known facts about donating blood, and then help design a soon-to-be-released donor thank you t-shirt. Current Michigan Blood donors also are encouraged to stop by the bus and pick up a special thank you gift. The first 100 donors also will receive a commemorative ArtPrize program guide.

Michigan Blood volunteers will be on hand to answer questions and assist visitors with designing the t-shirt. There also will be fun, interactive exhibits that:

• Explain the anthropology and evolution of blood types
• The non-scientific connection of blood types to personality types
• The blood donation process
• How blood components (red cells, plasma and platelets) are used to save lives in 40+ Michigan hospitals

Representatives also will share information on Michigan Blood’s affiliation with the National Marrow Donor Program’s Be the Match® Registry, public cord blood bank (one of only 20 in the United States),and volunteer services openings.

Visitors who opt to turn in their fun fact quizzes will be entered to win a drawing for multiple Meijer gift cards.

Any visitor who decides to become a lifesaving Michigan Blood donor can sign up to get the complimentary t-shirt designed at ArtPrize. Visitors have the option to turn in their card for the shirt when they attempt to donate at a fixed or mobile site throughout Michigan during ArtPrize (runs through October 6, 2013).
