Mexican Independence Festival in Grand Rapids

Fiesta Mexicana 2011 is underway in downtown Grand Rapids. If your family would like a peek at real Mexican and Latin American culture, here's your chance!

We're talking Mexican food, art, music, and a whole lot more. Of course, they had me at "food".

Calder Plaza at 250 Monroe Ave NW is the place, and the festival continues today and tomorrow. The admission is free, but according to an interview with The Grand Rapids Press, The Mexican Heritage Association hopes to raise $50,000 through this year's event.
