It's easy to see that Lieutenant Nubbins, a cat at Crash's Landing, has had a tough past. Crash's Landing has done their part taking him in and helping him recover.

Now it's your turn.

Adopt Lieutenant Nubbins from Crash's Landing.

Crash's Landing is a non-profit, no-kill cat rescue center.  Since opening in Grand Rapids in 2002, Crash's Landing has helped more than 2,500 cats. But there is still work to be done.

Every Friday on 100.5 The River is "Purrrfect Friday," where we feature a cat from Crash's Landing that needs a home. This week, we're spotlighting Lieutenant Nubbins.

Crash's Landing has taken in hundreds of stray cats many of which have been in very rough shape. Crash's Landing always gives them the treatment and love they deserve.

Lieutenant Nubbins is no exception. His road back to health has been one of the hardest. He came to Crash's Landing in July 2014. Here are some of the health issues he faced.

  • his left eye had previously been damaged, so that a torn lower eyelid and central corneal scar remained, distorting the eye and impeding his vision a bit due to the resultant haziness on the surface
  • he was so heavily loaded with fleas that his body was peppered with scabs and scales
  • although he weighed in at 11 pounds, his body was malnourished and he was actually underweight for his frame
  • he was plagued with diarrhea that was causing him to dehydrate
  • all of his canine teeth were badly broken, either half-way off or down to the gum line
  • his ears were so crumpled and cauliflowered from years of him pawing and scratching at them that only minute, mangled nubs remained.
  • both of his ear drums had ruptured, resulting in a nasty middle-ear infection
  • he tested very strong positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)

Lieutenant Nubbins needs a home. Please adopt him.
