AAA Michigan says 1.4 million people will be hitting Michigan's roads over the holiday weekend.

Many of MDOT's projects will be suspended to allow for easier travel.

See which lanes will be opened and make plans for safe traveling this weekend.

The Michigan Department of Transportation will be suspending work on many projects from 3 p.m. today until 6 a.m. Monday.

35 work zones will continue to remain active or have lane restrictions, they are:

West Michigan

  • I-96, Lowell Township, Kent County, will have all lanes and ramps open under M-50 with a traffic shift.
  • M-45 (Lake Michigan Drive), Ottawa County, will have all lanes open in each direction at 120th Avenue with a traffic shift. 120th Avenue will be closed north of M-45.
  • M-82 in Fremont, Newaygo County, will be closed and detoured between M-120 (Maple Island Road) and Green Street. Access for local and business traffic will be maintained. Detour: M-120, 24th Street and Stone Road.
  • US-131, Mecosta County, will have all lanes open over 3 Mile Road. 3 Mile Road will be closed under US-131 and detoured via local roads.

Northern Lower Peninsula

  • M-22, Benzie County, will have one lane closed on the bridge over the Platte River with a temporary traffic signal.
  • M-22, Leelanau County, will have one lane closed over Ennis Creek with a temporary traffic signal.
  • M-32, Charlevoix County, will have one lane closed on the bridge over the Jordan River with a temporary traffic signal.
  • US-23, Iosco County, will have a traffic shift south of Oscoda. Wide loads restricted.

Southwest Michigan

  • I-94, Berrien County, will have two lanes open in each direction over Hickory Creek with westbound traffic crossed over onto eastbound lanes.
  • I-94 Business Loop (Stadium Drive), Kalamazoo County, will have one lane open in each direction from 11th Street to just east of Seneca Drive.
  • I-196, Allegan County, will have one lane open in each direction from the US-31 split to the Allegan/Ottawa county line.
  • I-196, Van Buren County, will have one lane open in each direction over County Road 378 (32nd Avenue).
  • I-196, Van Buren County, will have one lane open in each direction under M-140.
  • M-96 (Columbia Avenue), Calhoun County, will be closed over Raymond Road with a detour posted.

Central Michigan and Thumb

  • I-75 Zilwaukee Bridge, Saginaw County, will have the following restrictions in place from Janes Road to the I-675 north junction: Northbound I-75 will have all lanes open until 5 a.m. Saturday, July 5. Southbound I-75 will be detoured to I-675. Northbound and southbound I-75 will be detoured to I-675 from 5 to 8 a.m. Saturday, July 5. Southbound I-75 will have all lanes open beginning 8 a.m. Saturday, July 5. Northbound I-75 will be detoured to I-675.
  • M-24 in Lapeer, Lapeer County, will have one lane open in each direction from I-69 to DeMille Road.
  • M-47/US-10 interchange, Bay County, will have all lanes open on US-10 with the following ramp closures.
  • Westbound US-10 off ramp to southbound M-47 will be closed with a detour posted.
  • Northbound M-47 ramp to westbound US-10 will be closed with a detour posted.
  • M-53, Lapeer County, will have one lane open in each direction from Hunters Creek Road to I-69.

Southern Michigan

  • M-59, Livingston County, will have one lane open in each direction at Hacker Road with a traffic shift.
  • M-125 in Monroe, Monroe County, will have one lane open in each direction between Jones Street and Stewart Street.
  • I-94 in Jackson, Jackson County, will have the westbound I-94 ramp to southbound US-127 closed with a detour posted.
  • I-94 Business Loop (Jackson Road) in Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, will have one lane open in each direction between the ramp to eastbound I-94 and Collingwood Drive.
  • US-127, Jackson County, will have one lane open in each direction between Parnell Road and Henry Road with a traffic shift.
  • US-127, Ingham County, will have bridge work on several local roads over US-127 between Mason and Leslie. Barnes Road and South Street will be closed with a detour posted. There will be shoulder closures in each direction on US-127

Metro Detroit Region

Macomb County

  • M-53 will have two lanes open in each direction between 10 Mile Road and Chicago Road.

Oakland County

  • No restrictions.

St. Clair County

  • I-94/I-69 will have one lane open in each direction between Range Road and Lapeer Road, with ramp closures. Michigan Road will be closed over I-94/I-69. Lapeer Road will have one lane closed under I-94/I-69.

Wayne County

  • I-96 in Livonia will be closed between Newburgh Road and US-24 (Telegraph Road). Also, I-96 express lanes/ramps will be closed between M-39 and US-24. Schoolcraft Road will have one lane open between I-275 and US-24.
  • M-85 (Fort Street) will be closed between Oakwood Boulevard and Miller Road for bridge repair. One lane will be open between Miller Street and Dearborn Street.
  • M-102 (Eight Mile Road) will have two lanes open between Lahser Road and Telegraph Road.

Upper Peninsula

  • I-75 near Rudyard, Chippewa County, will have a posted detour in effect between M-134 and M-48.
  • M-26, Houghton County, will have two lanes open between the Portage Lake Lift Bridge and Dollar Bay with a temporary roadway.
  • M-35, Menominee County, will have one lane open over Turtle Creek under a temporary traffic signal.
  • M-149 near Manistique, Schoolcraft County, will have a posted detour in effect at Dufour Creek.
  • US-2 in Ironwood, Gogebic County, will have eastbound traffic detoured via local roads in Hurley, Wis., and Ironwood.
  • US-2 in Manistique, Schoolcraft County, will have one lane closed in each direction on the Manistique River bridge.
