Every women's talk show I have watched in the last couple weeks has covered this subject including The View and The Talk.

Manscaping!

It's a somewhat new term, but woman have been doing this for years, remember hearing about the Brazilian wax, the landing strip and vajazzling?  Women have been getting  plucked and waxed and decorated for years.  Recently, the trend has spread to men.  In the past the only guys who were getting waxed were porn stars and body builders, but all of that is changing.  I wonder if it's the women who are initiating the change for their men or if it's the men themselves who have realized this new form of grooming?  Regardless of how it came to be, it's happening!

One guy, a real estate agent, who was recently interviewed shared that he's a pretty hairy guy and he shaves his chest and stomach weekly with a standard Gillette razor. He did go on to say he was a bit sensitive about shaving his private parts with a straight blade, so he does his crotch hair once a month with a safety-guarded electric trimmer.  Why?  Because he likes the way it looks and he believes that girls appreciate it.
The Atlantic, a respectable magazine, reported this month that female pubic hair in America is on the road to extinction.  Grooming and waxing experts say the latest trend in pubic hair removal isn’t targeted at women—it’s for the guys.  By the way, this does appear to be a predominantly American guy thing.

Hair removal really isn't anything new if you look at history.  In ancient times, Egyptians did it to keep away fleas and lice.  In the 16th century, Europeans were shocked when they viewed Michelangelo’s statue of David and it featured only a sculpted tuft of hair.

While little scientific research exists on male hair-removal habits, a 2008 study conducted by researchers at Flinders University in Australia found “hairlessness is rapidly becoming a huge component of the ideal male body.” Of the 228 heterosexual males who participated in the anonymous survey(so there was no real need to lie here), 66 percent said they had removed pubic hair at least once, in comparison to 82 percent of homosexual males.   Men's Health Magazine, echoes the same thoughts.  Men's body-grooming products have flooded the market in recent years.  Looks like Steve Carell's "40 Year Old Virgin" chest wax scene isn't so funny anymore, it's reality.

I don't know about you, but as a woman, I like a man with hair on his chest, it kind of distinguishes him from a woman;)  I don't care if he has hair on his head but why wax your chest hair?  I just don't get it.  Unless you are doing it for show ie: body building, I get that, they have to oil up and it's easier to see definition and muscles etc.   But to wax for any other reason, I believe it's just silly.  What do you think?  Maybe it's a generational thing too...
