A new school policy is in place at a Berrien County high school and it’s being met with mixed reviews.

According to WSBT, officials at Niles High School and New Tech High School have instated a rule that says that students are no longer allowed to wear leggings or yoga pants unless they’re covered up by a long shirt or skirt.

Many are saying that the tight pants are distracting in the classroom, but not everyone is happy with this addition to the dress code. Some are calling this new policy sexist since it is primarily geared toward females. School leaders, however, have pointed out that they also banned saggy jeans, which are typically worn by male students.

Anyone who violates the dress code will receive a warning. After that, he or she will receive an in-school detention, followed by an out-of-school suspension.
