The lane closures on I-96 that caused backups on the westbound side of the highway last week returned Monday.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) confirms that the construction at the Grand River would resume on Monday morning:

I-96 westbound

  • Right lane closed from the Grand River to Alpine Avenue
  • Ramp to northbound US-131 *closed*
  • Ramp to southbound US-131 *closed*
  • Monday, August 18 at 10 a.m., through Thursday, August 21, at 3 p.m.
  • Detour: Exit at Alpine Avenue, take I-96 eastbound to US-131

US-131 southbound

  • Ramp to westbound I-196 *closed*
  • Monday, August 18 at 10 a.m., through Thursday, August 21, at 3 p.m.
  • Detour: south on US-131, exit at Ann Street, take US-131 north to I-96

These lane closures will go through 3 p.m. on August 21.
