Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick (who is currently incarcerated) has taken to social media to speak out about the Flint Water Crisis.

His statement came in the form of a lengthy Facebook message from his family on his behalf, WXYZ reports

In the letter, Kilpatrick claims that he knew about the problems with Flint's water supply as early as 2004. Up until 2014, the city of Flint was connected to Detroit's water system.

Kilpatrick also claims that former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm was aware the the issues with Flint's water supply and, "their inability to produce contaminant free water moving forward, nor afford the equipment & technology to do so."

The former Detroit mayor also had some choice words about current Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and his truthfulness in regards to his previous knowledge of the issue saying, "More than likely, he is being viciously, aggressively, and deliberately untruthful."
