John Legend is a pro at evoking emotions with his piano melodies, sweet lyrics and heartfelt videos. His new video for ‘You & I (Nobody in the World)’ is no exception.

Though the idea of a video featuring a diverse group of women isn’t a new one — take a look at Dove’s ‘Real Beauty’ campaign, or Colbie Caillat’s all-female video for ‘Try’ — the 35-year-old singer kicks the concept up a notch by gathering a truly varied group of ladies. (But don't get us wrong -- any celebration of women is always welcome and appreciated, so keep on truckin', Dove.)

‘You & I’ looks beyond just age and race, though women of all ages and races are, of course, represented. But the video also shows how differently people are beyond the surface — there is a teen girl weightlifting, an older cancer survivor revealing her mastectomy scars (so you may want to watch in private) and Laverne Cox, a transgender woman (and Emmy-nominated actress), removing her makeup. Every difference, physical or otherwise, is meant to be celebrated.

The diversity is beautiful, and played over John’s slow, piano-driven song, it’s even a little tearful.
