On Thursday, the former host of a Grand Rapids Christian radio show was sentenced in federal court to 40 years in prison for sexual exploitation and child pornography, our news-gathering partner WZZM-13 reported.

John Balyo, 35, received 25 years for the charge of sexually exploiting a child and 15 years for possession of child pornography.

In November, in a separate case, Baylo was sentenced to 25 to 50 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a boy in Calhoun County.

According to WZZM-13, the state and federal sentences will run consecutively, so that Baylo will be behind bars for the rest of his life.

Balyo was arrested in June at a Christian music festival in northern Michigan on the assault charges.

During the search of a storage unit belonging to him, investigators found child pornography and a bondage kit.

He plead guilt to the pornography charges in July.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Tessa Hessmiller said of Balyo:

"His voice filled the cars of families commuting to work and school with their children. He was a recently married family man, a wedding photographer, a volunteer with the Kent County sheriff's department, a former camp counselor and an overseas mission volunteer with children. ... But he was a wolf in sheep's clothing."
