Jazz fans rejoice! Freddy Cole is coming to town, and it's going to be a knock-out concert.

Presented by the 2016-2017 Chemical Bank Series, Freddy Cole will bring his suave, elegant jazz to the Van Singel Fine Arts Center Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 7:30 pm.

There are some unmistakable similarities between Freddy Cole and his brother Nat King Cole. But through the years, Freddy emerged from the awesome shadow of his older brother and paved his own way through the music industry and jazz community.

Though he doesn’t apologize for sounding like his brother, and in fact includes some of his brother’s hits in his repertoire, his voice has been described as raspier and smokier than his brother’s and his style has been compared to Billie Holliday and Frank Sinatra as well. He covers some tunes made famous by Frank Sinatra as well, but his original work is not to be overshadowed.

The Freddy Cole Quartet, who offer "an invitation to relaxation,” features not only its namesake on piano and vocals, but also Elias Bailey on bass, Quentin Baxter on drums, and Randy Napoleon on guitar.

Reserved seats are $36.50 for adults and $22.50 for students (high school and younger). Reserve tickets in person at the Van Singel box office or by calling (616) 878-6800, Monday through Friday, 12 noon to 5 pm. Tickets are also available at www.vsfac.com.
