Jazz Great, Christian McBride, Performs at St. Cecilia Music Center in February

Jazz returns to St. Cecilia Music Center in February with the Christian McBride Trio. They'll be here on February 19, at 7:30 p.m. The trio is formed around premier bassist Christian McBride, along with pianist Christian Sands and drummer Ulysses Owens, Jr.

One of the most dynamic bassist of his generation, 41 year-old Christian McBride creates a jazz tour de force with Sands and Owens, both younger emerging artists. They have been performing as a trio for about three years. In 2014, Christian McBride released his fifth recording “Out Here” on Mack Avenue Records featuring the trio.

McBride is considered a virtuoso, and is one of the most recorded musicians of his generation. In addition to producing his own recordings, McBride has performed and recorded with a number of jazz legends and ensembles including Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, Brad Mehldau, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Joe Henderson, Diana Krall, Roy Haynes, Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, Wynton Marsalis, Hank Jones, Michael Dease, Joshua Redman, and Ray Brown's "Superbass" with John Clayton, as well as with pop, hip-hop and soul musicians like Sting, Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, Isaac Hayes, The Roots, Queen Latifah, Carly Simon, Bruce Hornsby, and James Brown.

Tickets for the February 19, 2015 concert at St. Cecilia Music Center featuring the Christian McBride Trio are $42 for A section seats and $37 for B section seats. Student tickets are $10 and will be available only on the day of the show. The concert will be followed by a complementary post-concert reception to meet the members of the trio.
