Winter is still a ways off (maybe), but winter sports athletes have a reason to be excited today.

The first ever Meijer State Games of Michigan - Winter Games have been announced!

The Meijer State Games of Michigan - Winter Games will take place February 14 - 16, 2014.

The Winter Games are expected to bring over 2,000 athletes to a number of locations around West Michigan.

Here's a list of the events coming to the 2014 Winter Games.  Many locations have yet to be determined.

  • Basketball: (various venues across Grand Rapids)
  • BMX – Indoor: Thrifty Acres Indoor BMX, 1220 N Lafayette, Greenville, MI 48838
  • Bowling: Northfield Lanes, 2222 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505
  • Fatbike (Mt. Bike): TBD
  • Ice Hockey:  TBD
  • Racquetball: TBD
  • Rowing – Indoor: TBD
  • Speed Skating: MSA’s 2014 Michigan Short Track State Championships
  • Skiing and Snowboarding:  TBD
  • Snowball Softball: Huff Park, 2286 Ball Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505
  • Snowshoe / Trail Run: TBD
  • Wrestling:  TBD

Opening Ceremonies will take place at Cannonsburg Ski and Ride Area.  Opening Ceremonies will include an athlete parade, an exhibition with professional skiers/snowboarders, fireworks, and more.
