Volunteers have constructed outdoor ice rinks at 3 parks in Grand Rapids.

The waiting game is almost over.

All are expected to open soon.

Visitors to Richmond Park, Wilcox Park, and Cherry Park will have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor ice rinks this winter.

This is the fourth year Richmond Park has gotten an ice rink.

There could be more and/or new locations in future years.

Friends of Grand Rapids Parks explains what goes into selecting which parks get ice rinks:

One of the things that went into rink location this year was a local neighborhood group of volunteers willing to maintain the rinks and the presence of a warming shelter, restrooms, and winter water line. We would love to expand in future years to new locations too.
