Our good friends at the Humane Society Of West Michigan will be competing against other organizations in the "2014 ASPCA Rachael Ray Challenge."  The top prize is $100,000.

The competition involves 50 shelters across the United States and is done with the objective of getting more animals adopted (or returned to their owners) than ever before.

For a shot at the $100,000 prize, HSWMI has to adopt out 300 more animals in June, July and August than they did during those months in 2013.  HSWMI found forever homes for 600 animals during that time last year, so this year they need to hit 901 adoptions during that three month period.

Trudy Ender, Executive Director, says "if we succeed, we'll not only save 901 lives, we'll also have the chance to win $100,000 that would allow us to renovate areas of our building to make them more comfortable for our animals, while also giving more funding to current programs and expanding our reach."
