So, you think you're pretty tough, do you. You're in pretty good shape, right? Do you think you could measure up to the Marines?

Lucky for me I'm not thinking, hoping, wishing, to join the Marines, that is unless they take really old, slow guys. Well, not even that. But, they've changed a couple of things.

The United States Marines are an elite corp, no reflection on the others services, but now they have a new training regime to join. The Marines have set new physical standards meant to weed out recruits...I would last five minutes...especially those people who are interested in joining combat groups.

I don't know if you've seen this, but all Marines need to do 2 pull-ups, 44 crunches, and run a mile-and-a-half in 13:30.

And then, for Marines to get into combat jobs, the standards get tougher. These recruits  have to do 6 pull-ups, run 3 miles in 24:51, and lift a 30-pound ammo can over their head 60 times in 2 minutes. So, let's see...I could do, maybe half a pull-up, run a mile in, possibly a day. Yep, I'm close.

The Washington Post reports that new training regime, first reported by the Associated Press, outlines the Marine Corps’ attempt to implement new standards meant to establish a physical foundation for Marines, both men and women, trying to get into physically demanding jobs known as combat arms.

You can get the full story on the Washington Post's website.

So, what about you? Without any training, how would you stack up?
