Holland High School AP Government students will conduct a full day criminal mock trial on Thursday at the Ottawa County 58th District Court.

The trial will start at 8:20AM and finish at 2:50PM on May 26 in Courtroom B on the second floor at 85 West 8th Street in Holland.

The students, who are all in Mr. Daniel Telgenhof's class, have been assigned roles including police officers, investigators, prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses, court staff, judge and jury. They have spent the last two weeks studying the facts and legal issues of their case, preparing opening statements, jury questions, direct and cross examination questions and closing arguments.

Presiding over the trial will be Honorable Bradley S. Knoll of the 58th District Court. Judge Knoll has been mentoring the students for the mock trial event. Ottawa County’s Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Lee Fisher and Defense Attorney Bob Hamilton have also been mentoring the students and helping them prepare for the case.

The mock trial has been organized by the All RISE! Access to Courts Committee of the 58th District Court.
