This seemed interesting and timely, especially in light of the fairly recent deaths of high school students due to heart problems.

Over the next several months, Mercy Health Muskegon is teaming up with West Shore Cardiology to give student heart screenings to all high school students.  It's a "pre-participation athlete screening" that will help find pre-existing heart conditions that could increase a student's risk sudden cardiac death during physical activity.

The screenings will take roughly 15 minutes and include blood pressure check by mid-level provider, a 12-lead EKG, doctor examination plus an EKG review and echocardiogram, if needed.

Dates are March 20, April 17, July 24 and August 7, 2014 from 6-9pm.

You MUST register your child and also fill out some forms to bring along to the screening.  To register just CLICK HERE.
