The Grand Haven drawbridge has had some problems the last few days and sources say that weather is likely to blame.

According to WZZM, MDOT officials confirm that the Grand Haven drawbridge, after the massive backups and delays on Friday, did have more problems over the weekend.

Friday the Grand Haven drawbridge being down caused some major traffic problems. Then, the bridge broke down again on Saturday and on Sunday.

MDOT says heat causes parts to expand and that is where the problems begin.

MDOT officials say they have several mechanical and electrical techs that are available to fix the bridge when down. Due to the holiday weekend, many of the techs were unavailable to assist in the bridge repairs. Officials are meeting Tuesday to discuss if any additional work will need to be done.

There is a bridge schedule posted online to let you know the time boats will be coming through.
