GVSU Hosting Free, All-Ages STEM Expo on Saturday in Grand Rapids
Learning isn't just for weekdays.
Grand Valley State University is hosting a free public STEM event for kids and adults at Grand Rapids Public Museum on Saturday, Sept. 16.
The event, BrainSTEM, is a hands-on expo highlighting innovation and creativity in science, technology, engineering and math.
Activities for students in grades K-8 include "Get with the Program," a group of four computer coding sessions that will help expose students to computer programming.
"Code to Compose" is a program specifically designed for educators. It includes introductory music composition and computer programming curriculum designed for beginners. The basics will be taught by creating music with the Ruby programming language using a free application called Sonic Pi.
BrainSTEM runs from 9am - 2pm. Admission is free and registration is not required.
