Grand Valley State University Football has made the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs as a number six seed in Super Regional Four. The Lakers will travel to number three seed Ashland on Saturday.

This Saturday's GVSU/Ashland game is currently scheduled for noon.

The NCAA Division II Football Championship Field was announced Sunday afternoon.

GVSU's only losses this season were to teams ranked in the top five nationally. The Lakers were blown out 61-24 at home against Ferris State on September 19 and lost a closer game at Ashland two weeks ago, 45-31.

GVSU finished the regular season 9-2. Ferris State and Ashland both finished 10-0.

A Grand Valley win coupled with a Ferris State win over Texas A&M-Commerce would set up a Second Round GVSU/FSU rematch in Big Rapids on November 28.

28 teams qualify for the Division II football playoffs. There are four regions and seven teams from each region make the playoffs. GVSU was ranked 14th nationally last week, but being located in the strongest region made it difficult to even qualify.
