The Grand Rapids Griffins' first outdoor game in a history dating to 1996 was a memorable one.

The Griffins dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Toronto Marlies before 20,337 fans at Comerica Park in Detroit on Monday night.

Luke Glendening, a graduate of East Grand Rapids High School and the University of Michigan, scored two goals in the historic matchup.

The game was part of the SiriusXM Hockeytown Winter Festival, which leads up to the Bridgestone 2014 NHL Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Wednesday between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. Grand Rapids and Toronto are the teams' American Hockey League affiliates.
