After months of waiting, the Great Lakes are officially free of ice!

Another cold winter left ice lingering on the Great Lakes this spring, but a new report shows that all of the ice has finally melted from the Great Lakes.

The daily Great Lakes Surface Environmental Analysis report shows that Great Lakes ice coverage dropped below 1 percent for the first time on May 13. Ice levels continued to drop until finally reaching 0.0 percent on Sunday, May 24.

Not quite swimming weather, but a good step in the right direction.
