It's a fast, changing area, South Division in downtown Grand Rapids, is.  Better known as the Heartside Neighborhood, and home for many missions and shelters who try to take care of the homeless, down and out, who have no where else to turn.

However, this area is changing into an arts district, with artists studios and galleries, and some retail moving back into the abandoned shops.  Also, housing is becoming a big part of the neighborhood, whose past has kept so many people away as a "scary" place to be.

Today, July 17, from 4 to 5 p.m., the Heartside Neighborhood is hosting a "Meet & Greet."  It's a wonderful opportunity for people to come together to learn more about each other and the neighborhood.

Degage Ministries, 144 Division Ave. S, will host the event.  There will be a guest speaker and light refreshments as well.

See if you can attend.  It will be a time to meet new people, change perceptions, and open new eyes.
