Muskegon County may have been ranked one of the unhealthiest in Michigan but Ride On Organizers are hoping to have 1,000 riders registered to ride their bike to work the week of May 14-18, 2012.

It's the 5th annual Bike to Work Week and will be celebrated in Muskegon county, with the hopes of branching out into other counties in West Michigan!  So during the week of  May 14th through May 18th, consider grabbing a friend, your bike, to talk, ride, and get healthy by bicycling to work.  An important thing to remember is to wear a helmet.

When I was in Israel and interviewed singer Inbal Paz, I learned that her father was killed while riding his bicycle.  It's fun to ride your bicycle, but please do it safely and with a helmet.  Get your workout in before getting home from work.

Ride On! has also organized its first Ride of Silence May 16 at 7 p.m and it will start in downtown Muskegon. The silent ride is a national event to remember those who have died or were seriously injured while biking. The event will promote bike safety and following the rules of the road.
