You may have read this story about a 23-year-old Grand Rapids man turning over information to the Grand Rapids Police leading to the arrest of several men for allegedly trying to pick up minors online.

One has to wonder whether it's the same guy who has been posting 'To Catch A Predator' style videos to YouTube for years.

Going by several different screen names, such as SlyStinger and Anxiety War, a man has been posting homemade videos of him confronting men after pretending to be an under age girl (or sometimes a boy) online and getting them to meet him at a remote location.

Armed only with a camera and himself, this guy confronts the criminals and asks them questions about their intent, much like Michigan native Chris Hansen used to on NBC's 'To Catch A Predator' series which aired in the mid-00's.

Needless to say this guy has more balls than I'll ever have. The videos have been pulled before, so I'm not sure if the video below will work, nor am I sure the man who turned over the evidence to the police is the same guy. I will only say DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. It's extremely dangerous.

This video shows a man very similar to one of the mug shots shown in the Channel 13 story, so it makes me believe it was the same man. CAUTION: The language in their conversation gets graphic.

Last week, he posted this video talking about being banned by Google and having his videos restored for the time being.

Thanks to the video footage turned over to police by (we assume) this man, these men were arrested and charged with a felony:

  • Jered Andrus, 37
  • Dan Barnes, 68
  • Jacob Cassiday, 24
  • Brett Chaffin, 24
  • Phillip Crawford, 32
  • Aaron Russell, 19
  • Zachary Snoeyink, 29

WOOD-TV8 reports that the man in the videos is the one who is responsible for sending information to police that led to the seven men's arrests.
