As the nation remembers the tragic events of 9/11, so does Grand Rapids.

A day-long Boy Scout salute, a special remembrance program for police/fire fighters/EMS/military, and more are taking place in Grand Rapids today as we remember 9/11/2001.

Boy Scouts from the President Ford Council will be saluting the flag outside the Museum, and remembering the events of September 11, 2001 all day. Firefighters helped raise the flag shortly before 7 am.

At 8:46 am, the time the first plane hit the first tower; there will be a moment of silence.

At noon, Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell will join a Remembrance Program to honor members of police and fire departments, EMS and the military.

This is the 12th year for the scout salute by the Boy Scouts.
