The Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts (UICA) will present Coming Home: Jerry Gretzinger opening this Saturday, November 21, 2015 – February 28, 2016. The centerpiece of the exhibition, Jerry’s Map, is a massive map created with a variety of mediums and dictated by an elaborate set of rules and randomly generated instructions created by Gretzinger himself. Jerry’s Map is an ongoing work that Gretzinger has created over 50 years. The map, which is currently over 3,300 eight by ten-inch panels, will be shown in the fourth and fifth floor galleries at UICA. The public is invited to meet the artist and view the work at an opening reception on Saturday, November 21 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. UICA Members are invited to preview the work at 6:00 pm.

Jerry Gretzinger is a Michigan artist who was born in Grand Rapids. Gretzinger began Jerry’s Map, a fantastical, growing map of fictional cities in 1963.
