I rememeber seeing this story on the news a number of months ago.  It happened right here in Grand Rapids and it was heartbreaking.

When Rob Kirkbride's dog, Aura who he walking, was hit & killed by a driver that was distracted earlier this year, he turned to the Humane Society of West Michigan for support.

Soon after Rob started blogging about his feelings and thoughts on his blogging site "Walk Two Hours."  Bark In The Park is to bring awareness to pet adoption and health and safety.

Bring your pets to Grand Rapids' Riverside Park, April 14, from  10 a.m. to noon.  You can choose to walk a 3-mile loop, or take a leisurely stroll or simply relax and enjoy the park with other pet lovers. The Humane Society also will have pets available for adoption at the event.

On Rob's blog, Walk Two Hours, and  in his Jan. 11 blog entry he chonicles the very last walk he took with Aura.  If you would like to support Rob and the Humane Society, register for Bark in the Park by visiting  walktwohours.com.
