This Friday marks the 19th home opener for your Grand Rapids Griffins at Van Andel Arena!

To celebrate the start of the season, the Griffs have tons of fun planned for fans who come to cheer on their team Friday night.

First and foremost, this game is expected to sell out, so you'll want to get your tickets early from the Griffins website or at the Van Andel Arena box office.

The Griffins will be taking on the Lake Erie Monsters.

The first 3,000 fans through the door will receive Glow Bams! (Basically those awesome bam-bam sticks you usually get that will glow red!)

Of course, this being a Friday game, the Griffins will be offering their signature $2 beers and $2 hot dogs. Don't want to to wait in line to get your food and drinks? Get tickets for the D-Zone! You can get a D-Zone Fan 4-Pack which will get you a minimum of 4 D-Zone tickets, exclusive in-section waitstaff offering $2 hot dogs and domestic beers from 6-8 p.m.  You can purchase 4-Packs for multiple games at a discounted rate by contacting the Griffins Season Ticket Department at (616) 774-4585 ext. 2 for more information.

The pregame show will include on-ice projections, player introductions and a new player tunnel that they’ll emerge from. Including lasers. LASERS!

A few players to watch for this season include: Landon Ferraro and Mitch Callahan (who you may remember from his infamous selfie last season) both recently cleared waivers and are back with the Griffins. They’re both fighting for spots in Detroit this year. The Griffins goaltender Petr Mrazek is back – he could see significant time with the Wings this season depending on roster status. Newcomer Kevin Porter is a native of Northville, Michigan. He’s a former Michigan Wolverine and won the Hobey Baker Award in 2008, given to the top NCAA men’s ice hockey player. The Griffins also have a few big-time defensemen prospects in Nick JensenXavier Ouellet and Ryan Sproul.
