It's exciting to see the Grand Rapids restaurant and bar scene continue to grow with new choices opening up all the time.  It seems that I'm always reading about a new, exciting establishment opening.  The dining business is not only growing in numbers, but in food choices, styles, price ranges, and quality.  I think some of the best chefs in the country are right here in Grand Rapids and West Michigan.  And, the rest of the country is beginning to take notice.

Brewery Vivant is getting some love from Midwest Living magazine.  Midwest Living featured the West Michigan watering hole that opened last year on Cherry Street SE, in an online Top 25 list.

Here are the magazine’s Top 25 New Places to Stay, Eat and Play.  They heaped praises on the brewery, co-owned by former New Holland co-founder Jason Spaulding.  As you may know, Brewery Vivant is in a unique location.  It's inside a former funeral home chapel in the bustling, and trendy, East Hills neighborhood.

Midwest Living magazine wrote:

“The mix seems a little bizarre: an American craft brewer specializing in Belgian beers operating in the chapel of a former funeral home that has become a certified-green dining room. But it all works, and the pub's exposed ceiling timbers, stained-glass windows and Gothic-style arches enhance the Belgian feel.”

Okay, that's good enough for me.  I can't believe I haven't been there yet.  Brewery Vivant, you're on my list!
