Grand Haven Water Temperature Drops to 49

It's July, but Lake Michigan seems a little confused.

The water temperature of Lake Michigan at Grand Haven fell to a low of 49 on Wednesday while nearby temperatures stayed normal.

Why?

Overall cooler temperatures in Lake Michigan could be a contributing factor. WZZM reported a couple of weeks ago about the cool water temperatures in Lake Michigan. Cooler than normal, but not THAT much cooler.

Grand Haven water temperatures were in the 70s on Tuesday before dropping to 49 on Wednesday. Wednesday's sudden drop in temperature was due to the wind. The wind brought colder waters to Grand Haven.

Fortunately, the water temperature in Grand Haven is set to rebound in time for the weekend. Temperatures were back up to the mid 60s today.
