National Walking Day from The American Heart Association, is encouraging all of us to lace up and get moving this coming Wednesday, April 6. Whether it’s walking, running, biking, playing sports or joining a class, the goal is getting more active.

What's happening on Wednesday?  Locally, staff members of several companies will walk during their noon hour, and Subway stores in the area will be selling red paper hearts all month to support the American Heart Association.

The Walking Day isn't any one location, it's  anywhere and everywhere. The official Walking Day is to create awareness and get people out and walking. Everyone is encouraged to wear their sneakers/walking shoes to work and find opportunities to get in extra steps – do a walking meeting, park further away, or take a walk at lunch. It's a great way to raise awareness of the importance of physical activity and to give your coworkers a friendly push toward a healthier life.
