If you're thinking of taking a "selfie" at the polls on Tuesday morning, you better reconsider. Taking photos of yourself while voting is prohibited.

Didn't know that? Well, the Detroit Free Press has given us a list of other rules that you may be unaware of.

Other things that are illegal in polling places include shooting video, bringing in campaign literature, or wearing a T-shirt or button that advocates for a candidate or issue.

If you wear it, bring it, or try to give it to people as they enter, you'll be asked to leave, turn your shirt inside out, or remove the offending material.

Here are some Election day dos:

■ Bring a photo ID. If you don't have one, you'll be required to sign an affidavit attesting your identity before you're allowed to vote.

■ Unlike in a primary election, it's OK to split your ticket and vote for candidates from different political parties in this election. You can also vote a "straight party" ticket.

■ Make sure you vote all the way to the end of the ballot. But, you can also skip a race or an issue on the ballot without having it invalidated.

■ The polls are open 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
