Yeah, I had to do a double-take when I saw that gas station sign, too! How great would it be to have gas THAT cheap again?

With gas prices bouncing back-and-forth between $3.80 and $4.15 over the last few weeks, it gotten me to thinking about the steps some people will take to offset that huge hit to their budgets.

The first thing that helped us was shrinking from a three-car family to a one-car family last December; both of our "old" cars had over 200,000 miles on them and died around the same time (rotted frame on one, blown head gasket on the other). Although having just one car has presented logistical problems at times, it certainly has reduced the collective amount we spend on gas.

Now that my wife and I finally got our house in Toledo sold last week, we're official Michigan and GR residents and are planning on living near downtown. That'll help reduce the distance traveled to *get* to work and/or will allow me to ride a bicycle to work.

How about you? What are you doing to "fight" the gas prices?
