The Faithful Friends Relay for Life team will host its first annual “Bark for Life” event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 17.Bark for Life is a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Honoring the care-giving qualities of canine companions. The event will begin at 235 N. Main Street near the Rockford Footwear Depot and will follow the White Pine Trail to Richardson-Sowerby Park. Participants will walk their dogs down the trail to the park to take part in various activities for both dogs and their owners.

The annual fall Thornapple River and Grand River Clean-Up Day is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17. Residents are being asked to meet at Leonard Field in Ada to help pick up trash along the shores and in the rivers and nearby streams. Participants can join either a land team (on the shores) or a water team (canoes, kayaks) to collect trash along the Thornapple and Grand rivers that run through Ada Township. Supplies, gloves, snacks, and lunch will be provided.
