For the third year in a row, the Detroit Red Wings and Meijer have teamed up to bring some fun to kids this summer.

The Summer Hockey Tour consists of "hockey clinics" where kids are given lessons for one hour followed by a 30-minute street hockey game. The clinics are held in the parking lots of different Meijer locations, which spans eight lots. Red Wings representatives, coaches and local hockey players will be hosting the event.

This is for kids 7-12 and open to all skill levels, experience or not.

The Tour travels around Michigan and in West Michigan this week at the following Meijer's:

  • Monday, July 16 Muskegon - 700 W. Norton Ave.
  • Wednesday July 18 Grand Rapids - 315 Wilson Ave. NW
  • Friday July 20 Battle Creek - 2191 Columbia Ave.

Clinics are divided into age groups.

  • Ages 7-9: 10:30a - 12p
  • Ages 10-12: 1:30p - 3p

Registration is required but walk-up's may be accepted to fill for last-minute cancellations. Register here.
