The KlaasKids Foundation is hosting a free child safety event at John Ball Park in Grand Rapids on Thursday, August 11.

The KlaasKids Foundation and Engineered Protection Systems (EPS Security) will host a KlaasKids Print-A-Thon. Children will be photographed and fingerprinted at no cost. Each participating child will also receive a packet of safety tools.

The Print-A-Thon uses computerized systems that were originally designed for a federal agency. Each child will receive digitized fingerprints, an updated photograph, a DNA Collection Kit and safety tips. Parents will learn about a 9-point plan on what to do if your child disappears.

The KlaasKids Foundation was created following the 1993 kidnap and murder of 12-year-old Polly Klaas. KlaasKids Foundation child safety programs are designed to promote awareness and education for parents and children.

Since 1994, Print-A-Thon events have fingerprinted and photographed more than 1,000,000 children at no cost and without creating a database of children’s information.

The Print-A-Thon is Thursday, August 11 from 4PM - 7:30PM at John Ball Park, 1300 West Fulton Street in Grand Rapids.
