The Grand Rapids Amateur Astronomical Association will kick off its series of free astronomy classes with the Grand Rapids Public Museum on January 30.

Three introductory "Astronomy as a Hobby" classes are being offered at Schuler Books and Music on 28th Street in Grand Rapids.

Each session will take place on a Saturday at 1PM and will be followed by a telescope tune-up clinic from 2:15PM to 3PM where experienced amateur astronomers will adjust personal telescopes and provide advice about proper use.

Classes are free and open to the public.
