My wife, Kathy, and I just discovered a new restaurant in Grand Rapids and in our book, it's a huge hit, that you should "hit!" Forty Acres Soul Kitchen needs to be a "must" on your list of Grand Rapids restaurants.

What a great place, beautifully designed with a great, modern vibe, comfortable dining in or out on the patio, and a warm and welcoming staff, very knowledgeable in their menu and drinks.

Lewis Williams, the managing partner, opened Forty Acres, partnering with Darel Ross II,  about 4-months ago at 1059 Wealthy, SE, in the exciting Uptown/Eastown area.

The food is just what you'd expect from an upscale soul food restaurant. From fried green tomatoes to fried catfish, fried chicken, stuffed chicken and waffles, wings, ribs, oh my, I could go on.

For Restaurant Week, you have your choice of the Soul Platter, my pick, or Vegan Platter, with so much food I almost dare you to finish it there. I couldn't. Then there's dessert of Peach Sorbet or Bread Pudding. Don't miss either one. All of this for only $25 a person.

The Grand Rapids restaurant scene is changing, growing, and evolving into a true "foodie" destination.

Forty Acres is a must stop. You won't regret it.
