A bus fire forced 20 Forest Hills students to evacuate their bus on the way to school this morning.

All students are safe.

A scary moment and the kind of news we never want to hear as a Forest Hills bus caught fire this morning.

The bus driver safely got all students off of the bus.

WZZM13.com reports:

At about 7:25am, the driver was picking up students for Forest Hills Northern and Middle School at the Aquatics Center parking lot.  She smelled smoke and got the kids off of the bus.  Shortly thereafter, the bus burst into flames and damaged up through the first row of seats.

A representative of the Forest Hills Northern district tells WZZM that the district has ten other buses like this one.  They will be determining the cause of the fire later on today and also assessing the other buses.

A terrible experience, but a good opportunity to remind all kids of the importance of fire safety.
