We're keeping a close eye on the flu this season. Reports of the flu continue to slowly increase, but overall reports of flu-like symptoms are still low in Michigan.

The percentage of office visits for flu-like symptoms reported by Michigan health care providers for the week ending November 8 was 0.8 percent. 13,082 office visits were recorded.

0.8 percent is a slight increase, but is still lower than the rate reported for most of summer. The national rate is 1.6 percent.

The "central" region of Michigan, which includes West Michigan, showed the highest rate of flu-like symptoms and recorded the biggest jump.

There have been a total of nine hospitalizations for the flu in Michigan this season.
