Flu levels across Michigan remain low as only 0.7 percent of patient visits were for flu-like symptoms according to the latest weekly report from the Michigan Department of Community Health.

The latest report shows only a slight increase in reports of flu-like symptoms.

The pandemic flu season of 2009-10 peaked at this time of the year with about 10 percent of visits for flu-like symptoms, but other seasons have been low in mid-November then peaked later.

Predicting how strong of a flu season we will have is very difficult.

Overall, northern Michigan is reporting the most flu-like symptoms, while southeast Michigan has the least. All regions are reporting similar rates.

As a whole, Michigan's level of flu activity is classified as "sporadic" by the CDC, which puts Michigan in the same category as about 40 other states.
