Baseball and theatre fans will come together as 'Ernie', the play based on the life of Ernie Harwell, makes its West Michigan debut in Grand Rapids.

The play will also help to raise funds for Hospice of Michigan's Open Access program.

'Ernie' was written by Mitch Albom.  Albom is best known for his regular column in the Detroit Free Press, and writing the books, "Tuesdays with Morrie" and "The Five People You Meet in Heaven".

'Ernie' will have a total of 14 shows, including two special opening day performances, at Wealthy Street Theatre in Grand Rapids.

The show will run September 12 - September 23.  Tickets are $30 and will go on sale Monday through Tickemaster.  Tickets for opening night are $250 and will feature appearances by Ernie Harwell's son Bill, Mitch Albom, and Detroit Tiger alumni.

Looking forward to a great show and an opportunity to help raise money for a great cause at the same time.
