The Social Security Administration has released its data on the most popular baby names for last year, and really none of them come as a huge surprise to most of us here.

The most popular name for boys, for the second year in a row, was Noah. This isn't surprising to us here in West Michigan, because it was the number one boys' name for babies born at Spectrum Health in 2014, too!

The most popular name for girls was Emma. Emma was also the number one girls' name in 2008, and has been in the top three ever since. Emma came in second on Spectrum Health's list for last year.

The top 10 names for boys in 2014 were:

  1. Noah
  2. Liam
  3. Mason
  4. Jacob
  5. William
  6. Ethan
  7. Michael
