Being in Michigan State's backyard did not deter East Lansing High School's Brandon Johns from exploring his options for college basketball and today he has made his decision public.

Brandon Johns announced via twitter that he has verbally committed to the University of Michigan.

This is the second commitment John Beilien has secured for the class of 2018. 3-star recruit David DeJulius from East English in Detroit has also verbally committed to the Wolverines. DeJulius is a point guard who is considered a top-10 player in the state of Michigan.

Michigan's recruiting class ranking has shot up from 41st to 10th for the class of 2018 according to 247Sports after the Johns commitment. They have the third highest ranking in the Big Ten behind Michigan State (2nd) and Maryland (7th) as of this writing.
