Drone Camera Gives Unique View of Lake Michigan Ice [Video]

Technology is bringing us new ways to enjoy the beauty of winter in West Michigan.

See an aerial view of the ice along the shoreline of Lake Michigan.

Jeff Zita is an engineering student at Hope College. Photography is his hobby.

Zita equipped his $900 drone with a GoPro camera to get the unique view.

"I want something different, I'm always looking to go beyond the norm and get something extraordinary," says Zita.
Zita says the drone can travel up to 1,000 feet in any direction and always remembers where it started from, because of a built in GPS unit and compass.
