The rules have changed quite a bit from last year. Last year you had to be an artist who lived or had a studio in Kalamazoo county. This year it’s open to ALL artists who reside in Michigan.
Here’s how you apply:
Email your biography and/or artist statement and 5 images of your works firstname.lastname@example.org or if you like you can hand deliver a CD of your works to the Kalamazoo Institute for Arts. You will need to label CD “2012 Billboard Art Contest” and be sure to include your contact information, your name, your phone number and your email address.
There is a $10 application fee online or you can mail a check to the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Attn: Billboard Art, 314 South Park St., Kalamazoo, MI 49007
An artist panel will review applications and then they will select 20 candidates. The public will then vote on the Billboard Art web page and select the top 10 winners. Then those Top 10 winners will have their artwork featured on a billboard for one year
Here’s what you the artist gets:
1-year’s usage of the billboard displaying your name, the medium, the art image and your website address.
